International Ocean Day

The oceans are vital to the well-being of our planet, yet they face growing pollution and environmental degradation. On International Ocean Day, Thamini Jamii Organization hosted a beach cleanup event to highlight the importance of ocean conservation and to encourage sustainable practices in Zanzibar. Our efforts aimed at:

1. Raising Awareness About Ocean Pollution
   Educating the public about the dangers of ocean pollution and how it affects marine life, livelihoods, and the local economy.
2. Promoting Sustainable Practices
   Encouraging local communities to adopt sustainable practices such as waste reduction, recycling, and reducing plastic use to protect the marine ecosystem.
3. Community Engagement in Cleanup Activities
   Organizing volunteer groups to participate in beach cleanups, fostering a sense of community and responsibility for the local environment.
